Software license terms.
These terms are an agreement between you and Hourglass Flip governing the one-time purchase of the Thruline desktop application for Windows.
Last updated August 13, 2026.
Acceptance
By purchasing, installing, or using Thruline, you accept these terms. The terms published at the time of purchase govern the license; a subsequent change to this page does not alter a license already purchased.
License grant
A Thruline purchase grants a non-exclusive license to install and run the latest supported version of the purchased edition on up to three computers used by you. The license is personal to you and non-transferable: a discount code generated for an existing key can only produce a new key delivered to that key's owner, so sharing the code with someone else cannot transfer the underlying license to them — it can only let them buy the owner's own upgrade. Thruline may be used for personal, professional, and commercial writing.
Price and payment
The price and currency presented at checkout constitute the price of the purchase. Thruline is sold as a one-time purchase, not a subscription. Paddle is the merchant of record and processes payment, tax, and refunds.
Ownership of content
Projects, manuscripts, and all material you write or import remain yours; Thruline claims no rights in that content. Hourglass Flip owns Thruline and retains all rights in the application itself.
License restrictions
You may not share a license key, or copy, modify, reverse engineer, rent, sublicense, resell, or redistribute Thruline, except to the extent applicable law permits such acts notwithstanding this restriction.
Refunds
The refund policy sets out the 30-day money-back guarantee and the request procedure for both new purchases and paid upgrades. A refund ends only the key created by the refunded purchase; any other key you own is unaffected. Refunding an upgrade purchase also restores your original key's discount eligibility, since that key was never altered by the upgrade. A chargeback on any purchase terminates that purchase's key without restoring discount eligibility; contact support to resolve a disputed charge instead.
Updates
A purchase includes the current major version and all maintenance updates released for that version. Future major versions are separate, optional purchases. Existing owners receive 50% off when one major version behind, 25% off when two behind, or 10% off when three behind; four or more versions behind are not eligible for that upgrade discount. The license purchased today does not convert into a subscription.
Activation and license verification
A license key activates up to three computers. The application attempts a quiet license check when it starts. After 30 days without a successful check, it warns that a connection is needed. After 90 days, a successful check is required before editing can continue; reading and export remain available. The license page provides self-service activation resets.
Termination
A refund or chargeback terminates only the key created by the refunded or disputed purchase; any other key you own is unaffected. Refunding an upgrade purchase also restores your original key's discount eligibility; a chargeback on an upgrade purchase does not. Hourglass Flip may also terminate a license upon a material breach of these terms. Upon termination, use of the terminated key must cease; projects stored on your computer remain yours.
Projects and backups
Thruline saves work automatically and maintains a rolling set of local backups; however, projects exist only on your computer and no software can guarantee against every failure. You are responsible for maintaining independent backups of the project folder. To the extent permitted by law, Hourglass Flip accepts no responsibility for lost or corrupted files.
Warranty and limitation of liability
Thruline is provided "as is" and as available, without warranties or conditions of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties or conditions of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
To the extent permitted by law, Hourglass Flip is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and its aggregate liability relating to Thruline will not exceed the amount paid for the license. These limitations do not apply where prohibited by law, including in respect of consumer rights that cannot be waived.
Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of Ontario, except where applicable consumer law entitles you to bring a claim in your place of residence.
General
These terms are the whole agreement between you and Hourglass Flip about Thruline. If one part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
Your license cannot be handed on to someone else; Hourglass Flip may pass this agreement on if the business is sold or restructured. The sections about ownership, liability, and governing law continue to apply after a license ends.
