Privacy policy.

This policy describes the personal information handled in connection with Thruline: the information required for purchases, licensing, support, and email updates. Manuscripts and project files remain on your computer.

Thruline is operated by Hourglass Flip in Ontario, Canada. Last updated August 11, 2026.

Purchases

Checkout, payment processing, taxation, and refunds are handled by Paddle as merchant of record. Paddle receives your payment and contact details under its own privacy policy. Hourglass Flip receives the purchase email address and a transaction reference in order to issue and support the license, and at no point receives card details.

Licensing

Thruline uses the purchase email address to recover or reset a license, and the license key to activate the application. Activation registers an anonymous installation identifier with the license server so that one key can cover three computers; the identifier reveals nothing about the computer it comes from, and no other personal data is sent.

The application revalidates the license the same way at most once every 14 days. License records are kept while a license is active and removed when no longer needed.

Manuscripts and diagnostics

Thruline does not collect telemetry. Projects and diagnostic logs remain on the local computer, and projects opened in the web Viewer are processed entirely within the browser. Diagnostic logs are never transmitted and do not contain manuscript text.

Email updates

Where the optional updates consent is selected during checkout, EmailOctopus stores the purchase email address and may send a confirmation email. Consent is never preselected. Thruline does not track whether these emails are opened or their links followed, and every message includes an unsubscribe link.

During the private beta, the optional signup form sends your email address to Thruline's license server. It is stored in a deduplicated beta-access queue so we can contact you and send a license key manually. It is not sent to EmailOctopus, does not automatically issue a key, and may be deleted on request.

Cookies and server logs

Thruline does not set analytics or advertising cookies. Paddle may use cookies or browser storage in the course of providing checkout. This website, the Viewer, and the license server operate on hosting infrastructure that maintains standard access logs, including IP addresses, for a limited period.

International processing

Hourglass Flip operates from Ontario, Canada. Paddle and EmailOctopus are based in the United Kingdom, and hosting infrastructure may be located outside Canada. Information described in this policy may therefore be processed in those jurisdictions, subject to each provider's contractual and legal safeguards.

Your rights

You may request access to the personal information Hourglass Flip holds about you, request a correction, or request deletion of records that are no longer required. Individuals in jurisdictions granting additional privacy rights, including the European Union and the United Kingdom, retain those rights. Requests concerning payment records are handled by Paddle as merchant of record.

Questions about this policy, and requests concerning personal information, may be submitted through support.
